Settle Utd 2 – 2 Gargrave
August 7, 2008
Gargrave travelled to North Craven to play Settle Utd in a friendly match on Thursday evening.
Settle opened the scoring. Gargrave equalised through Simon Boatwright. Unfortunately for Simon, friendly goals do not count in the seasons top goal scorers chart. Jonathan Chapman put the visitors ahead with a close range lob which pre-empted a joyous celebration. Settle equalised in the last five minutes when a high shot/cross left the keeper Stewart Wilson with poached egg on his face.
Gargrave 2 – 3 Pendle Forest
August 5, 2008
Pendle Forest secured a strong 3 – 2 win over Gargrave in a friendly match on Tuesday evening. They opened the scoring and Gargraves leveller came via a Ben Brown penalty. The home sides second goal was neatly despatched by Paul Wilkin after Christian Moon had outpaced the Pendle defence.

Gargrave 5 – 3 Skipton Town
August 2, 2008
Gargrave hosted a friendly Derby game on Saturday versus Skipton Town.
Town arrived with a large squad of players whilst Gargrave could only field eleven men as six of their players were taking part in a 5 a side competition at Rolls Royce FC (congratulations to the Gargrave team who won the competition, beating Trawden in the final).
There was little to choose between the two teams in the first half but Tom Varey was able to break the stalemate minutes from the half time whistle with a neatly placed shot. A free kick from Joel Timmins hit the defensive wall and Varey was on hand to hit the rebound. The hosts lead increased when Liam Jamesons header hit the spot. Skipton Towns fresh legs created two goals in quick succession but Jamesons thirty yard screamer put Gargrave 4-2 ahead. Skipton Town replied with their third. Tom Varey claimed his hat trick with an eighteen yard lob and sealed victory,a hard working performance from all the players and Geoff had a good game too.
The next friendly is at home on Tuesday evening Vs Pendle Forest.
