Gargrave AFC Reserves 0 – 0 Trawden Celtic

October 13, 2008

Goal keeper Adam Hudson was the hero of the hour for Gargrave Reserves when they faced Trawden Celtic. His penalty save kept Gargrave in the game and a draw against a youthful Trawden side left manager Jimmy McLachlan well satisfied. Captain Adrian Eyles led his team well both through play and verbal encouragement. Lee Barrett was as always solid in defence and his early long range shot was the first to test the Trawden keeper. Gargrave had the best of the early play but Trawden soon turned up the heat, though their young eagerness saw many shots blasted either wide or over target.

Adam Hudsons penalty restored the home sides confidence in the second half of play. Excellent work by the consistent Matthew Simpson almost created the winner for Gargrave moments from time. His pin point cross to the feet of Tom Varey looked like there was an un-missable shot on the cards but it became a stoppable one with the Trawden keeper fortunate to be perfectly placed to block the shot. Hard working mid fielder Richard Scott was named as man of the match.

There was disappointment from some of the Trawden players when they found their teacher Richard Orme was playing for the Gargrave first team at Skipton town, they were looking forward to some pay back!
