LMS Reserves 2 – 1 Gargrave Reserves
September 28, 2009
There was little to choose between the two sides but it was to be LMS who took the points with just the odd goal advantage. Matthew Hurst opened the scoring in the first half of play with a cool finish on goal. The Gargrave defence held firm with young left back Luke Chapman solid in the midst of the action.
LMS scored twice in the second half of play, both through two free kicks, one an unstoppable shot. Gargrave began to tire but continued to strive for a share of the points and were only denied by the LMS keeper after he made a good save from a strike by Lee Richards .
Centre half Nick Kendall caught the eye of the opposition when they named him as man of the match whilst Richard Osadzenko took the honours for LMS.
Northern Plant Hire Trophy-first round….
September 28, 2009
Gargrave AFC 3 - 1 Embsay FC
Cup holders Gargrave were hosts to Embsay in the first round of the Northern Plant Hire Trophy competition. The two teams met last season in the semi final stages when Gargrave just had the edge to win 2-1.
Embsay opened the scoring but Ben Brown levelled with a superb free kick which curled into the corner of the net. Joel Timmins came close but a cruel bounce just denied the opportunity to take the lead. Greenwoods shot across goal at the other end was just wide whilst the lively Al Tudhope`s header went just over the bar. 1-1 at half time
Gargrave soon pulled ahead at the re-start with a goal of the season from Timmins. The strong breeze continued to cause problems for both sides but neat passing moves from Joel Timmins to Geoff Rotherham gave Christian Moon the opportunity to head in the third and final goal of the game for Gargrave to enjoy a 3-1 win.

Craven FA Challenge Cup: Gargrave AFC 1 – 6 Rimington FC
September 22, 2009
Current holders of the FA Challenge Cup, high fliers Rimington were taken by surprise when Gargrave scored just minutes into the game. Ben Brown took his time and neatly placed the goal into the corner of the net. The hosts were in control for much of the next twenty minutes with keeper Stewart Wilson only troubled once and a save at feet kept Gargrave in the lead.
A close range goal from Rimington levelled and this was the catalyst in the game. Indecision in defence led to Rimington increasing their lead by 3-1 at the half time whistle. A goal mouth scramble led to a fourth with a fifth following shortly. Saves from keeper Wilson helped to keep the score at 5-1 but an unfortunate own goal was to increase Rimingtons tally to six.

Gargrave Reserves 1 – 4 Chatburn FC
September 9, 2009
Chatburn dominated the first half of play and keeper Adam Hudson was soon called upon. Chatburn put constant pressure on the Gargrave defence and their first goal was scored within the first fifteen minutes. Gargrave tried to get back into the game but Chatburn scored a second with a tap in and then a third from close range.
Gargrave came back out in the second half of play and looked a different team, turning the tables on Chatburn and putting the pressure on them. Sam Ashby was unlucky not to score after a one on one with the keeper. Gargrave continued to push forward and Matthew Hurst came close but was stopped by the alert Chatburn keeper. The visitors scored a cruel goal on a rare break but Matthew Hurst did score a well earned consolation goal for the hosts in the last fifteen minutes. Man of the match for Gargrave was midfielder Nick Kendall.
