Gargrave AFC 3 – 1 Long Lee Juniors

September 6, 2009

Gargrave AFC   3  -  1  Long Lee Juniors

This was a meeting of last seasons top two teams in the Premiership . Long Lee had the upper hand last year when they took the league title, leaving Gargrave in runners up spot.

Long Lee were the first to score from the Penalty spot, twenty minutes into the game. Ben Brown levelled and then put his side ahead with a second goal after a mistake by the Long Lee keeper.

The visitors attacked but the Gargrave troops were well marshalled by their Army captain, midfielder Geoff Rotherham who earned himself the man of the match award .A comprehensive win was then finalised when the second of the Brown duo, Matt, scored with fifteen minutes left to play.

An excellent win for Gargrave, with a good solid all round team performance.

Reserve team game cancelled…

September 3, 2009

The Reserve team game due to have taken place this evening ( Thursday 3rd September) at home vs Silsden Whitestar has unfortunately had to be cancelled.

Despite the atrocious weather the pitch has held up well and with some work in the goal mouths prior to the game it would have been playable. However the game has had to be cancelled because the Silsden manager had not been notified about the fixture from his club.

The Reserves have no game on Saturday but the first team may need some extra players for their home game against Long Lee Juniors. Please contact Matt Brown if you are available.
