Silsden Whitestar 2 – 0 Gargrave Reserves
October 25, 2009
Gargrave Reserves were slow out of the starting blocks on Saturday. Silsden Whitestar took advantage and scored a couple of goals in the first twenty minutes of play. A change of formation in the second half improved the visitors game but Silsden were the more physical side and it was hard to break through their defence. Adam Hudson in the Gargrave goal had another solid game whilst a good performance from Jonathan Chapman earned him the man of the match accolade.
Gargrave AFC 3 – 2 Waddington FC
October 25, 2009
Waddington were the first on the score sheet but Ben Brown levelled with the coolest of finishes. Christian Moons long range shot was just parried over by the keeper. Waddington took the lead against the run of play but a well placed shot from Moon levelled the scores. Richard Ormes long range free kick was well saved to leave the score at 2-2 at the break.
Gargrave returned to the field in the second half of play and began to create more and more chances with their composed and fluent passing of the ball. Five attempts on goal saw shots go marginally wide or just over, player Manager Matt Brown hit the post, five more attempts were just wide of target again. Finally with minutes to go the conscientious Matt Brown deservedly scored the winner for his team. A good all round performance worthy of a victory. Joel Timmins was man of the match for Gargrave.
Cononley FC 2 – 6 Gargrave AFC
October 18, 2009
Goal machine and man of the match, captain Richard Orme, got Gargrave off to a good start with a deflected shot from the edge of the area. Gargrave notched up another before the break.
The visitors scored their third into the second half of play. Cononley replied with a tap in to an open net but Gargrave had not finished their goal haul and created another two shots which found the back of the net. Cononley scored their second after a goal keeping error by Ben Heap who was making a welcome return to the club after an absence of two years. The days proceedings were neatly wrapped up with a sixth goal for Gargrave whose goals came courtesy of Sandwich Facilitator Joel Timmins and a brace each from Paul Wilkin and Ben Brown.
Craven FA Norman Pratt Trophy:Grindleton Reserves 5 – 3 Gargrave Reserves
October 18, 2009
Gargrave Reserves were only just able to raise eleven men for their game on Saturday with players unavailable through either work, leisure , injury or cup tied. Numbers were further hindered by some unforeseen circumstances which had left one player hospitalized the previous evening and another searching for his lost eagle.
However there was a good team spirit on the day and Lee Richards opened the scoring with a well taken goal from a tight angle. Grindleton equalised but Jonathan Chapman gave Gargrave the lead again with a quality finish. A clever free kick fed Nick Kendall who neatly slotted home to give Gargrave a 3-1 half time lead.
Gargrave began to tire in the second half and Grindleton brought on all three subs at once which did not help the visitors tired legs. The home side went on to score a further four goals despite the best efforts of the Gargrave defence.
A great effort by Gargrave who entered the game on the day in very difficult circumstances. The team return to League activity next week when they visit Silsden Whitestar.

Gargrave Reserves 0 – 1 Oakworth FC
October 12, 2009
Oakworth attacked from the off, first hitting the post and then the bar. Mark Webbs well placed free kick into the box looked dangerous but failed to find a Gargrave head. Oakworth continued to attack and the Gargrave defence had to work hard. Keeper and man of the match Adam Hudson was in the thick of the action putting in some great saves. Sam Ashbys pass to his brother Ben saw the shot go just wide,Stuart Dollan came close and a speculative long range lob from Jodie Lonsdale was tantalizingly close.
Gargrave came back into the game in the second half of play with improved passing moves and Oakworth began to loose some of their composure. Cricketer Ed Stanley and Scott Eggleston both put in good performances on their debut. Hudson continued to put in some great saves but a last minute ( literally) foray by Oakworth saw them take the lead. A cruel blow for the hosts after a mammoth defensive performance. Man of the match for the visitors was Andrew Tanner.
The Reserves will be in action in the Craven FA Norman Pratt Trophy on Saturday, away vs Grindleton Reserves. The winners of this game will meet Skipton Town Reserves in the next round.
