WFC Clitheroe 2 – 1 Gargrave AFC
November 1, 2009
Gargrave visited WFC Clitheroe on Saturday at their temporary ground at Great Harwood. The hosts scored first but Gargrave levelled after some excellent work by Christian Moon. Unfortunately the hero soon turned villain as a bad bounce hit his hand which resulted in a penalty been given. WFC Clitheroe took the lead through the penalty shot. Mid fielder and captain Richard Orme gained the plaudits as man of the match.
Gargrave Reserves 2 – 4 Ighton Leigh
November 1, 2009
Martin Eyles gamely stepped in as stand in keeper on Saturday and was soon in the action as Ighton Leigh began their forays on goal. More changes were necassary when Nick Kendall was forced to leave the field of play with a hamstring injury. Ighton Leigh continued to push forwards and were three goals to the good when the whistle blew for half time.
Gargrave were awarded a penalty early on in the second half of play and this was converted well by Mark Webb. Stuart Dollan single handedly seemed to breathe new life into the Gargrave squad when he deftly controlled the ball and lobbed the stranded keeper, a draw now seemed within the reach of the hosts and it was now Gargrave who pushed forwards. Defender Adrian Eyles swopped positions with his brother Martin in goal but though Gargrave seemed to have new heart as they pushed for an equaliser it was Ighton Leigh who scored. An unstoppable angled shot which took the game beyond Gargraves reach. A 4-2 win for the Lancashire visitors.
Good performances from the consistent Luke Chapman,Michael McLachlan and the man of the match Jodie Lonsdale. Andy Fisher was named as man of the match for Ighton Leigh.
