AFC Padiham 2 – 1 Gargrave AFC Reserves

March 23, 2009

Gargrave started the game well and enjoyed most of the possession but it was Padiham who took the lead against the run of play with a good finish from their striker. The visitors were not down hearted and were playing confidently and were soon rewarded when Mattie Simpson drew level,he received  the ball on the edge of the area and then fired it into the bottom corner of the net.

The game remained level until the final minute when a cruel bounce took the ball over the head of the Gargrave keeper and into the empty net. Gargrave made the long journey home disappointed not to be taking a share of the points with them.

Midfielder Sam Watson impressed the hosts who named him as man of the match.

* Please note the Reserves have no game on Saturday March 28th but can all regular Reserve players try to be available for their next   game which is on Wednesday evening, April 1st, away vs Cowling, kick off 6.30.p.m.
