Gargrave AFC Reserves 1 – 2 Earby Town FC

April 10, 2009

Earby Town opened the scoring minutes into the game with a long low shot, they continued to look dangerous on the break and Mattie Simpson foiled a second shot when he blocked on the line. Gargrave began to come back into the game but a soft header from Tom Varey went straight to the keepers hands. A good pacey move from the hosts found the receiving player off side and then Gargrave had to clear from the line as Earby broke through again.Gargrave continued to work hard and Simpson played the ball to the hard working defender Chris Manger who crossed the ball to the head of Jonathan Chapman who levelled the score.

The second half of play saw Simpson`s long range power shot go just wide whilst Earby had a  good chance on goal but the shot was high. The visitors second goal was a high lob which went just beyond the keepers reach. Again Gargrave strived for a leveller and despite all the players working hard, their hopes faded as did the light.

Man of the match award went to Aidie Eyles in the heart of defence.

The Reserves play the last of their League games on Saturday, at home versus Bingley FC.
