Gargrave Reserves 0 – 3 Bingley Town

August 26, 2009

Gargrave started the game the much brighter of the two sides and totally dominated the first twenty minutes of play, passing the ball well and having numerous forays on goal. Nick Kendalls free kick from just outside the box was parried over by the keeper. Rob Barkers long low shot and a neat tap in from Sam Ashby were saved by the alert Bingley keeper. Bingley broke free on the half hour and scored, a second closely followed, a long range unstoppable shot. A run through the defence created their third. Gargrave were awarded a penalty but luck was against them as the shot cruelly hit the post. Their bad luck continued when keeper Adam Hudson was forced to leave the field at half time with a recurring ankle problem.

Phil Cooke replaced the injured keeper and was soon called upon to produce some saves. Jodie Lonsdale was making a fine debut for the club and a great shot from him was saved by the Bingley keeper. Gargrave pressured for the last ten but could just not find that vital touch. A good performance from all their players particularly man of the match Jonathan Chapman who was always in the thick of the action.
