Both games are called off today ( Saturday 27th November ) – due to the weather conditions, frozen grounds.

Craven FA – Norman Pratt Trophy game

A lively start to the game from both sides. Luke Maude looked confident in the home goal and handled the ball well. Every Gargrave player gave 100% throughout the game but it was Chris Cox who broke the deadlock mid way into the first half when his well placed shot found the corner of the net.

Lee Dent was unlucky not to score just after the re-start and again luck was not on his side when he faced a one on one with the keeper. Robert Barker came close and was enjoying more freedom in midfield after a change in the teams formation. Impossible to name all the players – but why not-Luke Maude, Richard Lord, Luke Chapman, Adrian Eyles, Oliver Wild, Ben Wilson, Will Beckwith, Jonathan Chapman, Lee Dent, Chris Cox, Robert Barker, Tom Wood and Luke Cartman , all a credit to the club, and in particular to the club stalwarts, Jonathan Chapman and Adrian Eyles who have stepped into the breach after the resignation of the Reserve Manager. A good result for the players who are beginning to look sharper on the ball and stronger in their physical tackles. A good confidence boost.

Gargrave FC 4 – 8 Grassington FC

There were plenty of goals in the game on Saturday but unfortunately the majority going the way of the opposition. Grassington took advantage of the hosts lack lustre start and  scored two simple goals within the first ten minutes of the game . The second goal seemed to bring the hosts back to life and they began to match their opponents though Grassington did score a third. Gargrave pushed forwards and were rewarded with a header from their defender Matthew Brennand. Good play from Christian Moon allowed Ben Brown to score with a tap in and at the half time break Gargrave were still in the game with Grassington only leading by a slender 3-2 margin.

The equaliser came after some good play from Ben Brown to Moon who calmly slotted the ball home. Grassington took the lead again and their keeper denied Gargrave levelling after a great save from a Matt Brown shot. From then on the Grassington attacks led to goals – four !                        However striker Ben Brown did restore some decorum when he scored Gargraves fourth, with the final score an  8-4 victory to Grassington.

The squad will face a tough test next week when they visit the top of the table Cowling.

Long Preston FC p – p Gargrave Reserves

Unfortunately Long Preston FC cancelled the game on Saturday morning due to a water logged pitch.
