Skipton LMS Reserves 1 – 4 Gargrave

March 26, 2012

It was a hot day in Skipton, so Matthew Brennand turned up to this local derby wearing shorts.

The game started with the referees whistle, and it was Gargrave who took the lead when a through ball from the lively Richard Orme founds its way to Christian Moon who prodded the ball past the goalkeeper. Christian Moon soon added another after skinning a couple of defenders, and smashing the ball into the back of the net.

Half time arrived with Gargrave 2 – 0 up.

The 2nd half was to produce a moment that nobody on the ground would forget in a hurry when a clinical pass from Dan Thompson founds its way to the feet of one Simon Boatwright who was through on goal, one on one with the goalkeeper. In a situation like this, everyone was expecting Boatwright to miss, and rightly so based on past form, but to everyones surprise, he managed to scuff the ball past the LMS goalkeeper and it trickled over the line, to the disbelief of everyone in attendance.

LMS pulled a goal back with a long range effort, but Gargrave snatched a 4th on the break with Christian Moon completing his hat trick with a confident close range finish.

The game came to an end with nothing else of note happening, not even an overhead kick from Matthew Brennand, now into his second pair of shorts of the day. (These shorts were then changed back to the original shorts upon completion of the game)

Gargrave Reserves 2 – 0 Bradley FC

March 26, 2012

Gargrave had their chances in the first minutes of the game. Indiscipline within the side began to creep in but fortunately this was controlled and prompted the side into more constructive play. A good run from Matthew Simpson saw his shot find the bottom corner of the net giving Gargrave a 1-0 lead. A fine through ball from Liam Cartman was wasted. Defender Ben Wilson worked hard thoughout the game and some confident headers kept Bradley`s chances to a minimum. A quick free kick from the visitors was deftly cleared by the feet of keeper Stewart Wilson.

Gargrave wound up their three points with a second goal from Matthew Simpson in the second half of play.

Gargrave AFC 0 – 2 Trawden Celtic

March 19, 2012

Stand in keeper James Walker gave a good account of himself and his safe hands kept the visitors goals to a minimum. Top of the table Trawden scored on the twenty minute mark with a well placed goal. Gargrave looked dangerous on the break with some strong runs from man of the match Matthew Simpson who always looked a threat. Trawden were quick to see a gap in the  defence and tapped in their second goal from close range.

Gargrave had a good deal of attacking play in the second half but the goals just would not materialize.
