Gargrave AFC 3 – 1 Skipton LMS Reserves

March 12, 2012

Gargrave were in control for the majority of the game and LMS never looked a real threat. Christian Moon hit the upright but it was Matt Brown who put Gargrave ahead on the twenty minute mark. Gargrave continued to attack and a second goal should have come after an awesome long pass from man of the match Dan Thompson found  Ben Brown which gave him a golden opportunity to score but luck was not on the veteran strikers side. LMS came close with a crossed shot on the turn which went just over the bar.

The visitors had their second chance of the game five minutes into the second half but the shot was just wide whilst Matt Brown hit the post at the other end of play. A free kick from Ben Brown was saved by the LMS keeper. Persistent work by Ben Brown after another Thompson cross saw Gargrave take a 2-0 lead. LMS hit the bar with a header from a corner ball. The keeper parried two shots over the bar one from striker Brown and another from Andy Seddon. LMS were gifted with a chance after a defensive error but could not find the target. A great cross from Andy Seddon was tapped in by Ben Brown with LMS finding a consolation goal from a goal mouth scramble towards the end of play.

Gargrave AFC 2 – 4 Wilsden FC

March 4, 2012

Wilsden scored an early goal with a well placed shot  just  four minutes into the game. Both teams struggled to find any real form on the heavy pitch and the game was pretty scrappy. A header from Gargrave was pushed just wide by the Wilsden keeper and a powerful shot on goal at the other end of play was well saved by Gargrave newcomer, Craig Harris.

A long range shot from John Beckwith was fumbled by the keeper which gave the hosts a welcome leveller. Wilsden replied,  firstly with a tap in and their third goal came via a close range shot. A pass from John Beckwith was picked up by veteran striker Ben Brown who finished with a good strike.

Wilsdens lead increased to 4-2 in the second half despite Gargraves best efforts. Man of the match for Gargrave was the versatile Dan Thompson.
