Gargrave AFC 2 – 1 Silsden Whitestar
September 23, 2012
The first real chance of the game came for Silsden when after some good play they were faced with an open goal but the end touch let them down. However a slow defensive reaction did allow them to score the opening goal soon afterwards, another effort went wide.
Good play from Christian Moon provided a good goal scoring opportunity for the hosts but they were caught by the offside trap.
Gargrave levelled the scores in the second half of play courtesy of a long low shot into the corner from Nick Kendall. He almost scored his second when a header hit the bar. Kendall was again to the fore when Gargrave scored the goal which took them into the lead, his cross finding the head of Tom Varey.
Keeper Stewart Wilson had to leave the field through injury and was replaced in the remaining minutes by substitute Dan Thompson who parried a shot from Silsden over the bar.
A good result for Gargrave who continue their unbeaten run.
Barnoldswick Barons 9 – 0 Gargrave Reserves
September 23, 2012
A day to forget for Gargrave as they travelled to Barnoldswick Barons.
The makeshift defence could not handle the pace of the Barons centre forward and he gave them a torrid afternoon as he helped himself to four goals. An early injury to Gargraves striker James French did not help the visitors cause.
The 9-0 scoreline flattered the homesides performance but they were worthy of the three points as they completely outplayed Gargrave.
Hellifield Sports FC 4 – 6 Gargrave AFC
September 17, 2012
Gargrave arrived at the game in high spirits looking to keep their 100% winning record alive, but it didn’t start well for them as Hellifield started well and pulled into a two goal lead.
Not to be deterred Gargrave showed some great fighting spirit and pulled a goal back when man of the match Christian Moon broke free from the Hellifield defence and finished confidently. They were soon level when a powerful header from captian Liam Jameson found its way into the bottom corner.
To Hellifields credit they managed to get back into the game and retain their lead. It didn’t last long however as Christian Moon once again found himself one on one with the keeper and finished well to bring the game level.
Hellifield once again pulled back infront, taking advanatage of some sloppy Gargrave defending, however Gargrave went up the other end and were awarded a penalty which Christian Moon converted for his hat trick.
With the game at 4 – 4, a well worked free kick from Nick Kendall was headed across the goal from Liam Jameson to the feet of Ben Wilson who tapped the ball in from close range.
Gargrave weren’t finished with the scoring however, as substitute Tom Wood hit an unstoppable shot into the bottom corner with his first touch of the game to complete the scoring in a hard fought game, that saw both teams coming away with a lot of credit.
Gargrave Reserves 1 – 2 AFC Colne
September 16, 2012
Gargrave hosted newly promoted AFC Colne. Stand in captain Harry McEneaney opened the scoring for Gargrave with a freekick from outside the box. The visitors levelled when the Gargrave defence were caught out by a long ball over the top. Colne then took the lead in the early stages of the second half when a through ball split the Gargrave defence and the Colne forward slotted home. Gargrave pressed hard for the equaliser in the last few minutes but it wasn’t to be. Overall a fair result which saw a fairly lack lustre performance from Gargrave with few goal scoring opportunities. Debutant Mike Illingworth impressed on the left wing and was awarded the match point for Gargrave
Gargrave Reserves 3 – 3 Skipton Town
September 13, 2012
Gargrave opened the scoring with a free kick from Richard Orme. A close range shot followed minutes afterwards for Town to draw level. A goal mouth scramble put the visitors ahead.
A half time team talk seemed to do the trick for Gargrave and they began to play some good attacking football. Man of the match James French scored an excellent well controlled goal on the turn to level the scores. William Beckwith put Gargrave ahead but Town levelled again to share the points.
A good game for Gargrave Reserves who only days previously had been beaten 4-0 by the Skipton Town team.

Skipton Town 4 – 0 Gargrave Reserves
September 8, 2012
This was the first run out for Gargrave Reserves and their new manager Simon Boatwright. The pace of the Skipton Town squad tested the Gargrave players who had not had the benefit of any pre season friendlies. However there was a lot of positive play from them despite having to face one of the stronger teams in the division. Man of the match for the Gargrave squad was Richard Orme.
