Gargrave Reserves 5 – 0 Skipton LMS Reserves

November 18, 2012

Gargrave hosted Skipton LMS Reserves in the first round of the Craven FA Norman Pratt Cup. Gargrave were hoping for a good cup run to help with their precarious looking league position.

LMS started the better of the two teams but never really threatened the Gargrave goal. It was a cagey first half with few goal scoring opportunities, the best of the half falling to Will Beckwith who blazed over the bar after some good link up play between Andy Seddon and Josh Town.

Gargrave started well in the second half and soon took the lead, a hopeful long ball into the box from Dan Thompson turned out to be a perfect pin point cross for Richard Orme who used all his pace off the ball to direct his header into the bottom corner. Gargrave continued to press and created chance after chance. The move of the match saw Andy Seddon and Josh Town link up again, Seddon back heeled the ball and Town saw his placed shot go just wide.

It looked as if it was not to be Gargraves day after so many missed chances but then the floodgates opened. Andy Seddon headed in Jack Harrisons cross to make it 2-0. A fine solo goal from  Josh Town made it 3-0 and a screamer from Jack Harrison made it four. Seddon grabbed his second of the game and completed the scoring with a low shot into the corner.

An emphatic win for Gargrave and thoroughly deserved. They will meet Barnoldswick Barons away in the second round.
