Gargrave Reserves 5 – 1 Skipton Town FC
January 21, 2012
Gargrave Reserves were back to winning form after a couple of lack lustre performances. The weather and ground conditions were far from perfect on Saturday with gale force winds and driving rain, the latter not welcome on an already heavy pitch. Gargrave took command of the game from the off and allowed Skipton Town very little possession throughout the ninety minutes. Man of the match Harry Thompson opened the scoring with a well placed goal on the half hour mark. Player manager Jonathan Chapman soon added a second and John Beckwiths long low strike just before the break gave Gargrave Reserves a comfortable lead at the mid point of the game. Harry Thompson scored his second goal to give his side a 4-0 lead. Skipton Town with a rare foray through the Gargrave defence scored with a long low shot. Substitute Oliver Wild was unlucky when his shot went wide but Liam Cartman made no mistake with a good finish in the final minutes to give Gargrave Reserves a 5-1 victory. A well deserved result down to a good all round team performance. The two teams meet again on Saturday ( January 28th ) in the first round of the Division Two league cup, kick off 1.30.p.m at Skipton Town.
