Skipton Town FC 2 – 6 Gargrave Reserves

January 28, 2012

Gargrave Reserves had a comprehensive win over Skipton Town FC in the first round of the Division Two cup on Saturday. Gargrave started strongly but could not convert their chances and it was  Skipton Town who opened the scoring with a well taken goal. John Beckwith levelled with a tap in after the ball was squared from a run down the by line by Harry Thompson. It was a case of deja vous with Gargraves second but this time the ball was squared to Thomas Varey who also scored with a tap in. Gargrave remained the dominant force.    Town pulled a goal back in the second half of play but Gargrave soon took the lead again when Oliver Wild claimed his first goal of the season from a neat finish in the box. Harry Thompson rounded the keeper to slot home Gargraves fourth goal and Liam Cartman latched onto a through ball for the visitors fifth. Substitute Ben Wilson created the final goal of the game with a fine run through which then fell at the feet of John Beckwith. Skipton Town 2 – 6 Gargrave Reserves.
