Gargrave Res 0 – 2 Embsay Res

April 2, 2013

Gargrave faced top of the table Embsay in Saturdays big game of the day and both teams needed the points for very different reasons.

Embsay started brightly playing some good football but never really threatened the Gargrave goal. Gargrave then came into the game and looked comfortable in possession but couldn’t create any clear cut chances. Craig Gregory had a few sights on goal but he was restricted to long range efforts that never tested the Embsay keeper.

Embsay took the lead from the penalty spot after a clumsy Clocky-esque tackle from Harry McEneaney. It was an edgy first half and Gargrave were unlucky to be one nil down.

The second half was much the same as the first with Gargrave having most of the ball but they just couldn’t find the break through. Embsay then extended their lead after a good passing move. Gargrave pressed but again were reduced to long shots that never really threatened. It took until the 89th minute for Gargrave to finally have a shot on goal bringing a good save from the Embsay keeper. Gargrave almost claimed a late consolation when Carl Tetley’s bullet header again forced another good save from the keeper.

Gargrave deserved at least a draw from the game but just weren’t clinical enough in front of goal.

Got something to say?
