Gargrave Res 4 – 0 Earby Town Res

January 15, 2013

Gargrave hosted high flying Earby Town reserves on Saturday and only a win would do, to help ease their treacherous looking league position.

Gargrave started brightly, a tactical change of formation allowed Richard Orme the freedom of the middle of the park and he certainly made the most of it. A trademark through ball from Orme found Josh Town free in the penalty area but his touch let him down and the chance was gone. Josh Town soon had another chance but he blazed over. Gargrave were in complete control and the deadlock appeared to be broken when Richard Orme played a delightful chipped ball through to free scoring Simon Boatwright who found the back of the net, however the goal was disallowed and flagged as offside. Gargrave continued to press and the hard working Will Beckwith opened the scoring with a hard low drive from the edge of the box that hit the post and went in. Gargrave thoroughly deserved their lead at the break.

Gargrave started the second half well playing some nice football but not creating too many chances. The visitors rarely threatened and didnt trouble the Gargrave back line who had defended well all day. Will Beckwith then doubled Gargraves lead and Josh Town made it 3-0 soon after. The scoring was not quite finished there, Ben Wilson added a fourth and what a goal it was too. The roaming left back unleashed a ferocious shot into the roof of the net.

A fantastic team performance, every player worked their socks off and Gargrave thoroughly deserved the three points. The match point could have been awarded to most Gargrave players on the field but deservedly went to Richard Orme who had his best game of the season, but also a special mention to Andy Seddon and Gaz Lord who were also outstanding.

Got something to say?
