Pendle Renegades 2 – 0 Gargrave Res
April 25, 2013
Gargrave travelled to Earby for their final game of the season against Pendle Renegades.
The home team came out of the traps quickly clearly up for the game as they were chasing an automatic promotion place. There was little to choose between the teams though in the opening 30 minutes with both defences on top limiting the forwards chances. Pendle nearly took the lead from a corner but a close range header produced a great reflex save from the Gargrave keeper. Gargrave worked hard and tried to utilise the big pitch but didn’t offer too much going forward. Pendle took the lead with a counter attack a few minutes before half time.
Gargrave had the luxury of a substitute and brought on fresh legs just after the break. The second half was a fairly uneventful affair with the home side playing long ball football at every given opportunity. They doubled their lead to take the game of out Gargraves reach.
Gargrave came close to their first shot on target when Gaz Lord’s powerful slide tackle turned into an attempt on goal, this however summed up Gargraves night. Gargrave now have to rely on the teams below them to not pick up any points if they are to survive relegation.
It’s been a tough season for Gargrave but, if the current team they have now played from the first game of the season it may well have been a different story.
