Disappointing start to the Year….

January 2, 2016

Gargrave have made a poor start to 2016, having to call off their game at Marley vs Wilsden on the 2nd January due to a lack of players.

The need to cancel a game for this reason makes it very difficult for both the clubs team Manager and the Secretary at Gargrave.

The League have to be contacted about the cancellation and a letter of explanation sent to them which is then discussed at their next Management meeting. Whatever the outcome, Gargrave will be fined £25 for cancelling the game and Wilsden will be awarded the match points, the game is not re-scheduled.

The opposing club are also affected with their Manager having to make numerous calls to his team members who may have previously altered family or work plans so that they can play for their club.

Also affected is the Referee, who on this occasion made a special journey to check the pitch at Marley which was in good playing condition.

Training re-commences on Tuesday at 7.p.m. at Sandylands with the next scheduled game on Saturday 9th January away vs Grassington. Please support your club.
