The first fixture for the Reserve squad due to have been played on Saturday 4th September has now been brought forward to Tuesday evening 31st August, away vs Pendle Renegades at Sough Park. Kick off approx 6-15/6.30.

Season officially commences Saturday 4th September…..

August 23, 2010

The first two weeks of games are listed in the fixture list sections.

A big thank you to The Masons Arms at Gargrave who have kindly agreed to provide after match refreshments for the teams again. Will managers and home players please let all the visiting teams know about the excellent hospitality provided by Gordon, Alison and their staff.

A very disappointing turn out again for the one fund raiser in the year which we ask for help with – the annual clean up of the showground. This took place on Saturday the 21st August from 6.p.m. Four club members and three friends from the village who have no connection with the football club worked hard for a couple of hours, removing posts, tapes and litter. A couple of hours work which raised £200 for the club funds, with another handful of volunteers this would have been completed easily in an hour.

August 20, 2010

The new season gets underway on Saturday 4th September with a home game for the First team vs  Grindleton and an away game for the Reserve team at Sough Park, Earby against Pendle Rengades. Both 2.p.m kick off`s.

The first team travel back to Grindleton the following Saturday whilst the Reserve squad have a game at home against Earby Town.

A big thank you to the Masons Arms at Gargrave who have kindly agreed to provide the after match refreshments again. For visiting teams the pub is situated over the river bridge towards St.Andrews church on the Broughton road, corner of Marton road. Everyone most welcome.

Welcome back to the new season – 2010/11

July 31, 2010

The beginning of the new season is fast approaching with the first Saturday games taking place on the 4th September, not too sure how we stand with night games, possibly with creating a fifth  division these will not be neccassary.

Matt and Simmy have already had a number of training sessions, Tuesdays at the ground and Thursdays at Sandylands. They have also organised a few friendlies: Thursday evening 5th August – Firsts at home vs Ingleton.  Thursday evening 12th August – Firsts at home vs Pendle Renegades. Saturday 14th August – Reserves at home vs Long Preston. K.O 2.p.m. Thursday evening 19th August – Reserves at home vs Bradley. A Friendly will also take place for the Reserves at home vs Colne Juniors on either Thursday evening 26th August or Sunday 29th August ( awaiting confirmation ).

A team will also defend their title at the Rolls Royce seven a side competition on Sunday 8th August.

Measuring and marking of the pitch, pitch improvements and a general tidy of the ground will take place on Monday 2nd August from 6p.m. Please come along and help if you can.

Can you spare an hour on Saturday 21st August from approx 5.p.m for the clearing of Gargrave show field? We are given a donation of £200.00 for club funds for undertaking this work. It is a quick and easy fund raiser for the club and is very simple if we have enough helpers.

Celebrating 100 years of Craven District Football Association….

February 26, 2010

Last year the Craven FA celebrated a century of football, the association was formed in 1909 at a meeting in the Midland Hotel, Skipton.

A book documenting the history of both the association and all member clubs  was compiled last year by Mr. Allan Cawood, President of the Craven FA.  The publication is illustrated by many old team photographs ( Gargrave are represented by team photographs from 1927/28 when they were the Craven League and Craven Cup winners  and a team photograph from 1936/37. Both kindly loaned by Dennis French ). All nineteen member clubs are represented in the book, documenting the highs and lows over the years. There are also sections on the Referee`s, footballing families, Craven characters and much much more.

The book is priced at £5.00 and there is also a DVD which displays many more of the old Craven footballing photographs, the DVD is priced at a £1.00.

Copies can be purchased from the pavilion on match days or alternately please contact Caroline.

Morrison Cup game – off….

February 20, 2010

Unfortunately due to the ground conditions we have had to call off the Morrison Cup game ( again ). The frozen pitch would not take any studs at twelve noon so there was no alternative but to call the fixture off. Disappointing for both sides particularly when otherwise the pitch is in very good heart.
