Unfortunately we have had to cancel yet another Reserve team game. The Craven FA Norman Pratt Trophy game, away at Grindleton was due to have been played on Saturday 19th September but due to player unavailablility a cancellation was necassary.

We apologise to both the opposition and the Craven FA for the inconvenience we are causing them and hope that we are soon back to full strength with the Reserve squad. Their next game is on Saturday 26th September away at Skipton LMS Reserves.

Gargrave AFC p-p Cononley FC ….

Unfortunately the first team game has now had to be cancelled – home game vs Cononley – 12th September.

Cononley rang early this morning (12th) to say they were unable to raise a side. They have had bigger problems than us and have had to cancel both of their team games due mainly to players still involved with the cricket season.

Our next first team game is the Craven FA Challenge cup , first round, at home vs Rimington on the 19th September. Kick Off 2.p.m.

Reserves game off…

August 26, 2009

The Reserves scheduled game for Saturday 29th August away against Bingley Town has been cancelled due to a shortage of players – holidays, cricket, work commitments etc. Unfortunately it means we will incurr a £25 fine from the league for cancelling a game but it cannot be helped. It was always going to be a problem getting two sides out over a Bank Holiday weekend. The Reserves next game will be at home on Thursday 3rd September vs Silsden Whitestar.

The first team will be in action against their old rivals Skipton LMS  on Saturday 29th August. Kick off 2.p.m at home ( GARGRAVE)

Gargrave FC  Vs  Waddington FC

Gargrave Reserves  Vs  AFC  Padiham

Dates of the above games are to be advised.

A very disappointing turn out for the clearing of the show ground on Saturday evening. We have a total of 36 players and officials – how many helped ? – 4.

Huge thanks to Chris, Jane and Jonathan who are not involved with the club but chose to help out and to the young Beckwith and Harrison brothers who collected all the posts. The show committee give the club a very generous donation each year for clearing the field, half a dozen extra helpers and the job would have been done easily in an hour not two and  a half. It is such an easy and quick way of raising much needed funds but it  is no joke when it lands on the same people each year.

If anyone wants to redeem themselves there is plenty of voluntary work crying out to be done at the ground. Goal posts and railings need painting ( paint and brushes are in the tunnel), the sign at the end of the drive needs painting, grass needs strimming in the car park and edges of the pitch etc. etc. Do you know anyone who wants a sign board putting up to advertise their business? They arrange the making of the sign and the fitting onto the railings and then give us a donation of £50.00 per year. Where else can you advertise your business for less than  a £1  per week?
