Gargrave AFC

Big Thanks…..

May 5, 2014

Time now for a rest as the season was completed on Saturday.

The rolling register is now available via Dan for any players wishing to play for Gargrave next season, this must be completed and signed  by the 31st July. New players please contact the club to sign and complete a new registration form.

Thanks are extended to our kit sponsor, John Whitelock and our pitch sponsor, Ray Patrick.

Many thanks to John, Nicola and all the staff at The Masons Arms for their kind after match hospitality and to Anne and Geoff of Gargrave Newsagents for displaying the weekly fixture notices.

A reminder please, we only ask the players once a year to help with fundraising for the club, this means giving up and hour or two at the tops to help with the clearing of Gargrave showfield on August 16th. ( taking down fences, emptying bins etc ). It is a very quick and easy way to top up the funds which are slowly receding due to high costs with water, electric, ground insurance, rates, player insurance, refs fee`s, footballs etc etc . The show Committee give us a donation for the work.

Gargrave Villager Ray Patrick has very kindly offered his services to the club and will be cutting the grass on the pitch through the Spring and Summer months.

Ray did a fantastic job for us last year and his generous offer for this year is greatly appreciated.

Ray offers a range of Gardening Services including care of  lawns, hedges and Groundwork. Any job considered. Please give him a call 01756 748094  07866794809

Earby Town 2 – 3 Gargrave AFC

January 18, 2014

Gargrave were more than happy to go into the game as underdogs after a 6-1 league defeat by top of the table Earby Town last week.

The visitors battled hard on the heavy pitch and were rewarded with an excellent win. They took the lead through a Matthew Simpson goal which took the wind out of Earbys sails. Simpson went on to complete his hat-trick to take Gargrave through to yet another cup victory.

Game off……

January 4, 2014

Todays ( Saturday 4th January ) game is off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Next game is on Saturday 11th January, home vs Earby Town.

The following week we meet Earby again, this time on their home ground in the League Cup, kick off 1.30.p.m.

November 7, 2013

Many thanks to our new kit sponsor, John Whitelock who has provided both a new strip for the team and also a new sign to the entrance to the ground.

The sign has looked pretty tired for a few years so it was a nice surprise to see that someone had noticed this and done something about it.

A big thank you from everyone at the club, John`s generosity and thought is really appreciated

Fixtures Updated…..

August 19, 2013

Please check the new list of fixtures as the league have altered some dates and also brought a game forward from the original ones they gave us.

First game now will be on Saturday 31st August away vs Earby Town.

The Reserve team has now been officially withdrawn from both the League and the Craven FA due to insufficient players.

Very disappointed that we had no support with clearing the showfield on Saturday night. Therefore we have decided that the donation from the show committee will now be given to a charity rather than the football club. The charity chosen will probably be Manorlands Hospice.

Reserve team withdrawal…..

August 10, 2013

Sadly due to a lack of players we are having to notify both the Craven League and Craven FA that we have no option but to withdraw our Reserve Squad from both the League and FA cup games.

We have plenty of players to comfortably run a first team but are short of at least eight to ten regular reliable players who can turn up each week to fulfill Reserve team games.

The First team have a friendly match on Tuesday evening on the football field ( August 13th ).

Don`t forget clearing of the showfield from 6.p.m on Saturday 18th August. The show committee give a good donation to the club for this work and without that sum last year the club would have run at a loss. Plenty of people there and it is soon done.
