Personal Accident Insurance

October 7, 2008

We had a visit on the 27th September from Tim Lawson, a representative from Combined Insurance. Unfortunately quite a few players missed seeing him as the scheduled game against Grassington was cancelled. We strongly recommend that players should take out their own insurance cover, the club has a policy which covers all players but the weekly benefits are very basic.( Will all players please note if an injury occurs on the football field that stops them from working they must notify Caroline within two weeks of the injury or the current club claim is invalid).

The advantage of Tim`s Combined Accident Hospital Benefit plan is that it will cover you for any accident occuring through work, rest or play. All benefits are payable from day one and are much more realistic financially.Should you be hospitalised you would receive £140.00 per overnight stay. Minor fractures £200.00. Major fractures £1000.00. All the latter at a cover of less than £5.00 per week. Please contact Caroline if you wish to know more about the policy and what it covers and she will give you Tims  details. There is no pressure selling from him whatsoever just sound advice.

Unfortunately we have had to call our Reserve team game off on Saturday ( 11th Sept ). It was due to take place at Marley playing fields, Keighley against Bingley Town ( formerly Keighley FC ). The cancellation was forced due to player unavailability, holidays, work commitments and cricket duties.

We thank Bingley Town and referee Andy Greenwood for their understanding of the situation and apologise for any inconvenience it has caused them.

Normal service resumed next week!

Sam Watson-Ben Nevis fell race victory.

September 10, 2008

Congratulations to one of our players, mid fielder Sam Watson who has just returned from the prestigious Ben Nevis Fell Race  which was held on Saturday 6th September.

Sam was competing with 600 other athletes including 25 European competitors to run up and down Britains highest mountain ( 4406 feet ). He was running in the colours of the Wharfedale Harriers and won the trophy for the first under twenty three runner – a brilliant achievement.

We also had another club member running but the older guy wasn`t quite as fast!

The Reserves next game is at home on Wednesday 10th September vs Settle where it would be good to reverse the score from their last meeting, but a 1-0 win would be just as acceptable!
