Excellent opener….

August 20, 2014

Gargrave enjoyed a good opening game on Tuesday evening when they won 4-2 against Hellifield Sports.

It was good to welcome back Matt and Ben Brown back to the club with Ben scoring the opening goal.

The squad had a good mix of both experience and youth, the latter comprising of last years Craven Minor player, Jamie Poulter and the impressive Cameron Hodge who scored on his debut with the club. Tom Varey and Gary Lofthouse added to the tally.

The next game is at home vs Silsden Whitestar on Wednesday 27th August at 6.15.p.m.

Thanks go to Matthew Brennand for his help with clearing the showfield ( the club receive a donation for this for their club funds ) and to Cameron Hodge and his mate Ben who helped John and Dan with the measuring and marking out of the pitch in readiness for the new season. Also many thanks to Villager Chris Lancaster who has sanded down the railings around the pitch and made a start on the painting of them. Anyone else who fancies painting a section or two please get in touch with Caroline.

First game of the season…….

August 18, 2014

Gargrave will play their first game of the season on Tuesday 19th August at home vs Hellifield. Kick off 6.15.

Pre season update…..

August 7, 2014

The first friendly of the season took place on Tuesday 5th August vs Broomhill FC, unfortunately due to mechanical problems with the mower the grass was a bit long but it was still a valuable run out for both teams.

Gargrave were pleased with their performance and all their players took part in all or part of the game. The squad shows promise with a good core of last seasons players plus some returning players of old and some teenage lads. Training sessions continue at the football field on Tuesday evenings and the first game of the season will commence on the 19th August at home vs Hellifield.

Many thanks to a good friend of the club who answered the plea for a volunteer to paint the white railings around the pitch. Chris Lancaster has removed the rust from both lengths and has commenced painting, anyone else who fancies giving an hour or two of their time please contact Caroline who will provide the paint and brushes.

Volunteers again please to help clear the showfield of fence posts, railings, litter bins etc on August 16th from 6.p.m, showfield at the front of Eshton Hall. An easy quick job as long as there are a few of us. The show committee donate £200 to the club for this work. We do need these extra funds, last years utility bills alone amounted to £748.00!This year we also have the added expense of the purchase of two new goalposts. If you want to know more about the show clearing please contact our club chairman and show committee member  John 07850318137.

Big Thanks…..

May 5, 2014

Time now for a rest as the season was completed on Saturday.

The rolling register is now available via Dan for any players wishing to play for Gargrave next season, this must be completed and signed  by the 31st July. New players please contact the club to sign and complete a new registration form.

Thanks are extended to our kit sponsor, John Whitelock and our pitch sponsor, Ray Patrick.

Many thanks to John, Nicola and all the staff at The Masons Arms for their kind after match hospitality and to Anne and Geoff of Gargrave Newsagents for displaying the weekly fixture notices.

A reminder please, we only ask the players once a year to help with fundraising for the club, this means giving up and hour or two at the tops to help with the clearing of Gargrave showfield on August 16th. ( taking down fences, emptying bins etc ). It is a very quick and easy way to top up the funds which are slowly receding due to high costs with water, electric, ground insurance, rates, player insurance, refs fee`s, footballs etc etc . The show Committee give us a donation for the work.
