Ingrow 4 – 4 Gargrave Res

December 11, 2012

Gargrave started off brightly and were unlucky not to take the lead in the first few minutes with Josh Town blazing over the bar from two yards out. Gargrave kept on attacking and soon took the lead with the move of the match, with some great one touch football from Josh Town, Andy Seddon, Simon Boatwright and marquee signing Craig Gregory. Jack Harrison finished off the move with a brilliant curling shot that found the top corner. The home side were stunned by the quick start from Gargrave but soon took the game by the scruff of the neck and equalised with an unstoppable shot into the top corner. Ingrow then completely dominated the half and added a second and third before the break.

Gargrave came out fighting in the second half after some strong words from stand in captain Kristian Hodgson. However, it was Ingrow that scored again after a dubious refereeing decision that saw a clear foul on the Gargrave keeper who dropped the ball and it fell to the Ingrow striker who tapped into the net.

Gargrave did not let their heads drop and soon made the score 4-2 when Ben Wilson poked the ball into the roof of the net from close range. Gargrave had the wind in their sails and then from out of no where Carl “Roberto Carlos” Tetley unleashed a ferocious shot from 30 yards out that looked well wide but the ball dipped and swerved and ended up in the back of the net, a moment to forget for the Ingrow keeper. But a moment to savour for young Carl Tetley as he claimed his first senior goal for the club. Gargrave continued to press and deservedly grabbed the equaliser after some more great work from Craig Gregory who set up Andy Seddon who found himself completely free in the box and one on one with the keeper and cooly placed the ball into the bottom corner. A terrific comeback and a deserved goal for Seddon who worked tirelessly all afternoon.

Gargrave were happy with the point and it proved to be a thoroughly entertaining match with the crowd (of 5) fully getting their money’s worth. Gargrave’s man of the match was Craig Gregory who terrified the home side all afternoon. Sky Sports understands the club are keen to move for him in the January window, manager Boatwright refused to comment.

Gargrave AFC 3 – 1 Earby Town FC

December 10, 2012

The game was late starting when the appointed referee failed to appear. Fortunately Mr.Peter Brennand was able to step into the breach once a spare pair of boots were found for him.

Gargrave opened the scoring through Tom Varey from a goal mouth scramble. John Beckwith added a second from the penalty spot after a hand ball. A good shot from Al Tudhope hit the back of the net but was disallowed due to the offside ruling. Earby found it increasingly hard to penetrate a solid Gargrave defence with stand in keeper Liam Jameson having  an outstanding game.

The visitors did however manage to get on the score sheet but Gargrave increased their lead to 3-1 through a second goal from Varey.
